Kindness

I pray I’m basically a kind person, but sometimes, I believe that Christians need a “Reality Kick” in the pants! Let me be clear – I dislike excuses! I don’t like when my kids, patients or our politicians do it! Recognize that we’re not perfect creatures or ever will be, so let’s  accept responsibility and find sensible solutions to change behaviors!excuses

  1. Good timing on this post. I was getting hungry and instead of heading to our school cafeteria I started to eat some Skittles candy I had stashed in a file cabinet drawer. This post came to mind and convicted me. I am now munching on one of our farm to table Greek salads; fresh spinach leaves, jicama, whole wheat croutons, lean chicken, pinto beans, chick peas, sunflower seeds, carrots, fresh red onions and a light greek dressing. DELISH!!! Our fabulous lunch ladies were so proud of me. HAHA!! Thanks for speaking truth in love and being straight with us, Ellie.

    • Good for you! Beat that old devil back from your doorstep!!! Ha, you are Super Christian, hear you roar – nothing can conquer you!!!

      Actually your lunch sounds wonderful and after you’ve been away from the fat for awhile, you won’t even be tempted and will prefer the nutritious choices. Thanks Wendy, you always make my day with your comments. Blessings,

  2. I appreciate your advice on good Nutrition Ellie, we need to take the time to eat healthy or we end up sick. I was bulimic for ten years on and off as a young Adult which damaged my body, I thought what you looked like was what was most important but it’s not as we can see in the Scriptures below, we aim to be perfected in Love so we don’t use our bodies to satisfy our Carnal flesh in an evil way.

    1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

    Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

    Galatians 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

    Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

    2Timithy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

    1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

      • Thank you for your kind words Ellie I too appreciate you as a person of worth and because you seek to help others which shows a caring heart.

        What I was seeking to share with the Scripture was that we need to put our Carnal flesh to death and aim to be perfected in Love, as confirmed below by Jesus, it’s what is within us that can pollute us if not cleaned, of course food can have good and bad reactions in our physical bodies but sin damages the soul.

        Matthew 15:10-11 And He called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

        Thanks again Ellie, Christian Love in Christ Jesus – Anne

  3. Boy you told me didn’t you!! LOL Seriously – great article and then with Anne’s verses to add to it, makes it a keeper. You are so right in what you said, thank you for getting me back on track. My excuse was grief and who can argue with that right? Well, God can and good friends! I needed this wake up call. {hugs}

    • There is certainly a time to respect and grieve. It’s human instinct. But Patty you didn’t stay down in the pits of despair because you knew it wouldn’t honor your husband. You are surrounded by so many who love you; those who pulled you out and stood beside you! They helped you become strong enough to carry on. There won’t be a day that you won’t miss him and will keep his wonderful memory in your heart. You honor him now by being a powerful testimony to other women who are going through what you did and surviving. I am so proud to call you a Christian friend. Blessings and hugs back,

      • Ellie thank you so very much for your kind words. I can always count on you to lift me up. I appreciate you and your common sense to get back to healthy eating. I am not eating out or grabbing easy things to eat as much as I used to. I noticed when I eat right it helps to keep me going and so between that and blessed friends like you I have been able to stay out the pits of despair. God bless you and your family and a very Merry Christmas.
