About Me, Author and Traveler for God

Dave and Ellie MarrandetteI praise God for the blessing of an amazing life. Having several diverse careers; one in public relations, another as a certified nutritional counselor and now as a global-selling author, life has never been boring!

An avid traveler and military wife, my husband and I have been to 49 states and 43 countries, meeting many incredible people along the way. Although difficult to acquire a degree while living a nomadic lifestyle, (translate: B. C. – before computers and online courses) I finally completed that with my B.-Min in the early ’90s.

When my husband felt called to leave his twenty-year golf pro position to become a pastor, we left sunny Arizona for the cold climate but warm and friendly residents of northeastern Ohio. But after five brisk, dreary winters and we departed once again for the sunny South to continue life’s journey within God’s ministry.

As an author, I’ve published four coming-of-age novels, available on Amazon.com, Sometimes Marriage is a Real Crime available on http://www.amazon.com How much does our childhood contribute to the person we become? How many times can one forgive?

We continue the Katherine LeVay saga with Casey’s Journey. Have you ever wondered why bad things happen to good people?

Casey’s Journey

Katherine LeVay has endured tragic circumstances to become a successful businesswoman. But her heart still longs to discover what has happened to her beautiful, abducted daughter.  A standalone novel available on http://www.amazon,com/books in paperback and ebook format.

Restoring Hope, (released in November 2020 on amazon.com is the third sequel following Casey Conrad’s rise to fame. It persues her dream of reaching and inspiring troubled inner-city youth.

My fourth novel, A Place to Belong, is the last in the continuing saga of Katherine LeVay. Living an idyllic lifestyle with her second husband Robert Cunningham, she is troubled by a twenty-year secret.

Should she confess now and possibly change the course of her future? Could even God forgive such a heinous crime? Also available on amazon.com.

My short novella, The Curious Proposal for Prosperity, Nevada can be found on http://www.amazon.com for $.99. A fun read, it reveals the question of how to restore a dying town to its former glory.

Currently my non-fiction Christian book discusses our mental, physiological and spiritual connection to food “Life’s Too Short to Eat Bad Cheese . . .” (nutritional and life lessons God teaches us)  which can be found world-wide through Amazon.com. (Ebook is only $4.99.) Soon to be published in paperback form.

Presented for a love offering, the seminar series of, “Life’s Too Short to Eat Bad Cheese!” (nutritional and life lessons God teaches us)  targets Women’s Bible Studies and other Christian groups.  It addresses the intricate mind, body and spiritual aspects to optimum and sensible health. Begun in Arizona and continuing in my current state of Florida, God has truly blessed me, having spoken to churches and groups all over the country.

Understanding and deciphering nutritional truth while conquering false diet gurus and food cravings is indeed possible!

My newest endeavor is also one of my greatest blessings. I am honored to be part of Christian Grandfather Magazine‘s world-renown team of contributors, including John MacArthur. The link can be found here: http://www.christiangrandfather.org

Your prayers as I reach out to those needing Godly structure and encouragement are greatly appreciated. People need to know that God Doesn’t Make Junk. He also doesn’t want his people to live on sticks and twigs.

Coming in June 2023:

God’s Furry Messengers (Life Lessons Learned from Dogs) is targeted toward parents and grandparents with children 5- 10 years of age.

God’s Furry Messengers is meant as a family devotional. It addresses what children are facing today: bullying, prejudice, respecting others, kindness, God’s Love and Discipline among other subjects. As seen through through their pet’s eyes, each chapter pauses throughout to open a heartfelt family discussion.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the headlines. Many of today’s children are lost and floundering with no Godly Anchor.

Children today need the Biblical Direction. How many parents, teachers, or friends have stated after a tragedy, “I had no idea he/she felt this way.” “Why didn’t they talk to me about it?” This book opens the lines of communication in a non-pressuring way so parents can discover what’s really going on inside their child’s heart and mind. Available in a glossy paperback cover, with illustrations it can be purchased on amazon.com soon.

  1. So glad I’ve been introduced to your blog Ellie! I’m very interested in health and healthy eating, so all of this is right up my alley. I can’t say I have it all figured out at this point, but I’m sure trying to get my family on a healthier path. I hope to learn a lot as I follow your blog. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Everything we need, God created and provided. And you’re so right, he didn’t create junk! I also work in PR, so it seems we have much in common. 🙂

    • Ha! I’ve been working in nutrition for over twenty years and I’m still learning daily! That’s the beauty of it – it’s one way to keep this old brain staying young. 🙂

Yes, we do seem to have a lot in common and I am so blessed to have such great followers. I’m sure you will keep me on my toes also. Thanks for following my new friend,

    • Oh Patty B is one of the most inspirational women I know. As military wives and world travelers we had so much in common. (now we have many friends in common, 🙂 ) My heart broke for her when I heard of the loss of her sweet husband – it’s so easy to feel close to her. How fortunate I am to have you both as friends now. Blessings,

  4. My name is Pastor Ratnam and I am from Vellatur, Guntur District, Andrah Pradesh, India .

With God’s help I run an orphanage here in rural India ably supported by my loving wife and a small team. When I started 11 years ago we had no money and only a vision. To start with we housed 3 homeless children in our 1 bed straw hut and now we are able to provide a loving home for 243 children in our orphanage. The area is very poor and many people suffer from AIDS. many of the children have been orphaned because of this. We have also completed many successful missions for the poor and rural people in our area e.g. tsunami re-development. We have done a lot but not enough. It is my mission to be able to house 500 homeless and abandoned children and by the grace of God I will achieve it.

We have benefited from visitors coming to stay with us here at our orphanage spending their time teaching, singing and playing with the children.

I was wondering whether you could help us attract new volunteers?‏

    Winning them together,

    Pastor..Ratnam

  7. You mention Prosperity Nevada. There was a movie that was made in the mid 70s that was titled Second Chance, Nevada. It had a good message of servanthood. Brian Keith was the key actor, along with Juliette Prowse and Rosey Grier. Please have a blessed day.

    • Thank you Saints. My short story is Science Fiction and based on trust and revival. It’s a short, interesting read and free on Amazon. I’m no James Michener but I do have fun while writing and enjoy writing thought-provoking “what if” fiction. Even “Sometimes Marriage is a Real Crime,” isn’t Christian fiction yet, but sets the scene for the Christian fiction sequel. Only my non-fiction book is based on Christian principles. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the movie and I appreciate your comment. Blessings back,

  8. Thank you for dropping by my blog. I enjoyed looking around on your site. I hope your ministry to women bears much fruit! There’s a chunk of my testimony wrapped up in body image and perfectionism! I wrote a little about it recently on my blog. I might need that structure you’re talking about! Thanks again!

  9. Ellie, Thank you for following my blog. I enjoyed reading your story about your life and ministry and about how you ended up in Ohio. As I shared with you previously, Akron was my home for the first 32 years of my life, minus a few years we lived other places, including a year spent in Ft. Wayne, IN where my husband took classes at Ft Wayne Bible College. I think it has a different name now.

    • It is totally my pleasure my new friend! Do you want to change places and perhaps I could move to San Diego??? 🙂 Praise God the warmth of the people more than makes up for the cold temps! What concerns me is the unusually high rate of cancers in this area. So I am taking all precautions to remain healthy and spread the word about preventative food as medicine. (People seem pretty set in their ways though.)

Can’t wait to know you better because I love my followers and have the best on the web! Blessings,

  10. I guess, I should have read your book, “Life’s Too Short To Eat Bad Cheese” because this is exactly the kind of diet I am attempting to go on….bringing the connection between mind, body and spirit. Thanks for visiting my blog!

    • Ha, then at least five people then would have bought it, 🙂 It’s hard to compete with Rick Warren and other famous diet gurus, but God is good and I enjoy hearing that my blog makes a difference to you, thank you so much! Always feel free to ask if you have a question because I love encouraging others to become healthy! I so enjoy hearing comments so I do hope you’ll return. 14. Ellie,
I’m not sure who may need to advertise on a blog tour. If you’d like, I can pose the question on my facebook page as I follow about 300 Christian authors there. Or, tweet, as I follow roughly 500 Christian authors there. (I do know just about all authors can use advertisement!)
If that would work, let me know the details to post at robbyefaye(at)gmail(dot)com Thanks.
    God’s Blessings!

  16. Appreciated a bit of your bio. My education is an interesting one. A BS in Public Health. Health has been a passion of mine since sixth grade. I was not saved when I got my undergrad degree. I got saved in ’77 and then went to BJU to get my MA in Bible. In a way these two degrees don’t seem all that compatible on a human plane. I am now semi-retired and looking to use both of these areas I love. That of health and the Bible.

So, I appreciate hearing the road you traveled to get you where you are. I go to so many church functions and see the “junk” Christians eat, then the paradox is they appear on a prayer list. There is a verse that comes to mind. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Think it is Jeremiah. OK, Nope, it is Hosea.
    Hos 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. I know good hermeneutics and the primary message is that of judgment to come for not following the Lord’s commands and precepts. It is entirely fine though to make a secondary application. It is true that many, many Christians are paying a big price for poor dietary choices. God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. We can not expect to eat the devil’s diet and get Godly results.

    • So true. Food is the asherah pole of modern society. Any time one allows a food item to take over their lives they’ll lose control, and sadly it becomes an idol, loving it more than our LORD.

However, I speak of physiology a lot in my blogs. It is the total mind, body, spirit connection to food that we must be aware of in order to change one’s direction. God created us with free will but sometimes it’s not just willpower either. If you read more of my posts you’ll see that theme throughout. (and you’ve certainly read a lot already! Whew, it’s hard to keep up with you) Thank you for your comment. Blessings,

    • Ha! Thanks for the compliment, wow! As a great-grandma, I hope I’ll always feel young-at-heart and instill TRUE JOY in whatever God hands out to me. Eating well creates a vibrant lifestyle and since I represent our Lord, I must practice what I preach to represent Him. (My Gravitar photo was taken four years ago – I really need another but most photos keep my “humble.”) You’re so sweet, thanks.

    • Hi Tammy!!! Really miss you too. Thank you for thinking of me and yes, we are fine but have moved from Ohio to Florida. If you “friend” me on Facebook, I will message you back with all the details. After never missing a week for six years, it seems to be so hard to get back into writing again. (Of course we have been just “slightly” busy, wink wink.) I really should attempt to update my About Me page at least . . . gee, it must be the humidity – just feel a bit lazier down here, ❤
