Years ago, the holiday season was merely a month-long event: Thanksgiving to Christmas. Well, not anymore!
It begins when your best friend has a masquerade/Halloween party. Then it’s Thanksgiving with all the trimmings. Soon it’s the office and personal Christmas parties, Christmas Eve and Day with family and friends; then New Year’s Eve parties and a New Year’s Day feast.
Disgusted with the lack of control you promised yourself, you vow to take the extra weight off beginning January 2nd! But in January, the NFL playoffs come around and that means more parties and of course the Super Bowl. After that comes Valentine’s Day and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! Is it any wonder we sometimes gain 6-10 extra pounds over the “holidays?”
Okay . . . so now that you’ve pigged out over this past Thanksgiving weekend (even thought you convinced yourself, you wouldn’t this time) now what?
Becoming your healthiest self isn’t about willpower, complicated diet plans or even some magic formula. It’s about physiology, unique educational understanding and mentally deciphering why you act as you do around food.
I’ve professed many times that sometimes when you crave a cookie . . . it isn’t “just a cookie!” It represents so much more; discover what that is!
Until one becomes aware of that “why” reason, one’s simply spinning their wheels or even worse; wasting time, muscle, brain cells and money. The only thing lighter is your wallet.

I think it’s okay now Ellie. As for the book price. Don’t worry about it. Amazon plays games with pricing all the time. From what I’ve read about this, your royalties remain the same based on YOUR listed price, so if they want to give away a bargain with no reduction on your end, who are we to question? 🙂 ❤

There is such a correlation between food and a Christian’s mental, physical and spiritual health for sure! We are commanded to maintain our temple of the Holy Spirit and although many want to, don’t understand psychologically why they fail or place food as their idol. (Philippians 3:19.) Whoa!!! For some reason amazon,com has my book priced at $44!!! What is going on but that’s not right! I’m trying to rectify the situation by contacting the publisher and amazon. Hopefully it will be back to its normal price soon, before people forget about my book. 🙂

Your post speaks to me and reminds me of Romans 14:20-21, “For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.” We need to remove what makes us weak.

Yes, so much thought must go into how we testify as that shining light to others. We must ask ourselves, why would anyone want to emulate our lives and become a Christian by observing how we act, what we eat and what we say? As a counselor who specializes in nutrition, it’s important I “walk the talk and practice what I preach.” Praise God I preach 2 Corinthians 10:23! 🙂
